CLIENT: GOOGLE // ROLE: VIDEO EDITOR & CAMERA OPERATOR
THE NEED
With the increased focus on Juneteenth, how can we tell authentic stories of Black History and Juneteenth’s meaning to our team of Googlers?
The Approach
While at Creative Theory Agency, we partnered with Google to lead their 2021 development of an external film highlighting Juneteenth and its significance for Googlers nationwide.
The Process
We interviewed and prescreened various Googlers before landing on our three Googlers: Zora, Kwame, and Samantha. We prescreened them over Google Video Conferences, outlined their stories, and then developed the arc to bring their various narratives to life.
We traveled to Washington DC, Detroit, and New Orleans to document the experiences of three Googlers and craft a narrative that demonstrated the varying impacts and significance of Juneteenth across the country.
Deliverables
I was hands-on, filming half of everything we captured to tell this story, and edited the entire film. I stitched together interviews, b-roll, and a video call interview and found imagery to educate, engage, and empower viewers.
