My Skin Is Not A Threat

Following the murders of Keith Lamont Scott and Terrence Crutcher, my heart was heavy. Another unwarranted set of police killings of unarmed black men was getting at my heart and soul. Often from a place of distress and heartache, I make art to speak into the midst of the chaos and breathe life. I found myself wanting to scream from the rooftops that black skin is not synonymous with dangerous–that we are not threats. That lead to the creation of this image. A statement without a word. Black Lives Matter.
