Juneteenth

Over two centuries spent in bondage. Two centuries of terrorism aimed to crush the bodies and the spirits of our people–to destroy any remnant of hope. Yet, here we stand as a people, over a century and a half later, tall and proud of the heritage left to us by our ancestors. They taught us how to move forward despite any and every obstacle and oppression. Progress is the only option. Today we celebrate that chains were broken and we were made free. Black people, our culture is deeply rich and filled with beauty, despite hardship.
